We would like to welcome you to the Fitzherbert Arms of Swynnerton.

From November 2015 our build team worked tirelessly over a 12 week period to restore the ‘Fitz’ beyond the wildest dreams of all concerned. The restoration of the Fitzherbert Arms, our lovely village pub, is a joint venture between Lord Francis Stafford and our owners Mary Mclaughlin and Tim Bird.

The restoration of the Fitz is something we are all very proud of and we are delighted to have given the village something to be proud of too. We opened on the 16th February 2016 two years to the day that we met Lord Stafford for the first time to talk about turning around the ‘Fitz’.

The Fitzherbert Arms dates back to around 1818 and is at the centre of the old village of Swynnerton on Lord Stafford’s estate. Not long off Junction 15 of the M6 following signs to Eccleshall, you are soon in to the lovely Staffordshire country side and on your way to the Fitzherbert Arms.

Back in February 2014 we set out to restore a ‘dying’ pub into a gem, a nostalgic village pub ‘local and proud’. It took nearly two years to get on site after a lot of careful planning but the wait has been worth it. Click on our ‘gallery’ link and then to ‘restoration’ to see all the work, week by week, that has been carried out to bring the pub back from the brink of closure.

We offer home cooked, flavoursome and wholesome food cooked freshly by our kitchen team, a great array of local Staffordshire and Cheshire cask ales across five pumps which are always selected from breweries within a 30 mile radius of our pub. Try our Swynnerton Stout brewed at Titanic Brewery here in Staffordshire or our Fitzherbert Best Bitter brewed just over the ‘border’ in Cheshire by Weetwood. We also have a real cider pump to enjoy.

We offer over 30 different Ports by the bottle and 12 by the glass and a well selected wine list with 16 different wines by the glass that cater for all tastes. All our food and drinks can be found via the ‘food and drink’ links.

Most importantly our team at the Fitzherbert Arms are the key to our success and are featured too here on the website! The service our team offer is something we feel exceptionally passionate about. Friendliness goes a long way. We are very proud of our pub and of the great comments we receive from our customers both local and from further afield.

Please enjoy the website but most importantly come in and enjoy our pub whatever the occasion whether it be a walk with the dog or a drive out in to the Staffordshire countryside.
